A Kid Started It All

   Such a kid-friendly, kid-oriented idea certainly didn’t come from a grown-up! Wanting so much to meet her friends and to find new ones on the Internet, Alexis asked her mom and dad if she could join a well-known social-networking site.  Of course, the answer was an adamant, “No.” After much discussion and explaining of potential hazards on the Internet, 9-year-old Alexis still could not accept that kids her age had no way to safely take part in virtual meeting places such as blogs, chat rooms, forums and other such social-networking spaces. 

"I wanted a website because there was no kids space and my dad wouldn't let me get on the the other ones. So, I said wouldn't it be cool if we could made one without the bad stuff on it, and so we did." - Alexis

The Company Behind the Kid

    Their daughter’s idea wasn’t too bad, in fact, it was actually pretty genius.  So Bill and Shannon put the parents’ touches to the idea.  How can kids our daughter’s age safely network with other kids her age on the Internet?  Over many hours and thousands of cups of coffee, the two figured it out – combine sexual-offender background checks and technology with good old-fashioned parental oversight. 

    The involvement of family and friends created Zentral – the limited-liability company behind KidZentral and the companion parental-control site Parentzentral. Bill went work and created the first stage of KidZentral.  Shannon provided her extensive financial and managerial knowledge. Their daughters, Alexis and Sadie, continuously have offered inspiration for the graphic design, activities, and ways just to have fun on KidZentral.

    Everyone at Zentral sees children’s safety, specifically on the Internet, as a concern that is so timely and proximate to today’s families in the United States and worldwide. Predators no longer have to physically approach a child on the street or in a playground.  They can do so using the ease of virtual meeting spaces. Zentral stands behind every child who wants to meet other children on the Internet and provides security that helps ensure that children interact with other children, not predatory adults. 

Ready to Grow
    Zentral remains confident that parents will spread the word about the safety and security of KidZentral, and that kids will absolutely enjoy their social interaction.  As more and more members join KidZentral and its infrastructure expands, KidZentral Kids and Parents will see even more features in safety, security, children’s creativity, and social networking. 

    Bill and Shannon hope that what started as a big idea from Alexis’ young mind will grow into a primary space on the Internet for children’s social interaction and learning.
